Bacarra Sanderson Mauldin is the Chief of Staff at the Memphis Area Transit Authority,
where she serves as a liaison between MATA and the community as well as working with
all MATA divisions to ensure internal success. Bacarra has extensive public sector
experience, having served on the executive cabinet of former Birmingham Mayor William
Bell, was Executive Director of the Birmingham Regional Paratransit Consortium, Director
of Policy and Innovation at the Regional Transit Authority of New Orleans and was the
Chief Executive Officer of the Chatham Area Transit Authority in Savannah, Georgia.
She is active in the public transportation industry and has served on the Board and
Executive Committee of the American Public Transit Association, the Conference of
Minority Transportation Officials, was vice president of the Georgia Public Transit
Association and is a current member of the Tennessee Public Transportation Association.
Bacarra holds a Master of Science in Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama.
She is an active member of the greater Memphis community. Bacarra is a member of the
Leadership Memphis Class of 2023. She is in the Memphis Symphony Circle of Friends
and the Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she is the
Social Action Committee Chairperson.
Bacarra is married to her friend since kindergarten, George Mauldin, Jr., is the mother of
three children: Emuni, Morgan and George III and has one granddaughter, Raelynn - all
who inspire her to be great every day
